“Riparea” is a derivative of the Latin word riparia or riparius meaning "shore" or "on a riverbank."  We grew up near the banks of the Illinois River in the heart of Illinois and now make our home situated along the Grand River here in west Michigan. Our business name pays homage to the two places that shaped our lives and love over the years and we hope to bring some of that love and experience with us on each project that we undertake.

About Us

My name is Jake Szetela.  My Katy and I have always had a passion for making videos and capturing images.  We started years ago by making home videos and conscripting our siblings or classmates to act for our “productions.”  We took this love over the years and dedicated ourselves to studying the art of imagery.  Katy and I were married in September of 2016 and you can read about our story HERE.  We officially opened Riparea Videography in January of 2017 and offer video and photo services for weddings, business and personal projects of all kinds.   Our goal is to help share others’ stories and we hope to have the chance to share yours!
